CFG Style Week

Last month I participated as a makeup artist in the Charlotte Fashion Guild’s Style Week. This biannual fashion show provides a platform for designers and boutiques from across the world to showcase their work and products to the media, buyers and fashion lovers. It was my first fashion show and I have been telling everyone that it was like makeup bootcamp.

As one of the makeup artists, it was my duty to create the desired looks that the designers provided inspiration for. We followed the lead of our fierce director, Gregory Lawrence, who was responsible for interpreting the inspiration looks into makeup reality and then getting the team of MUAs on the same page so that there was consistency for each model. The best part about being involved in the show was the opportunity to work with other makeup artists, hair designers and of course all fashion. All of these people and talent created this wealth of energy that you just can’t get anywhere else. Since the weeks after the event, I have been thriving off of the high I got from all the creative juices that were flowing during the show.

Here are a few of the looks that I had the honor of crafting for some of the designers:

This gilded look was created for designer Drew Clawson. It featured a contoured face for the male models with gold-leaf foil application.

Drew-Clawson-1
This look was also for designer, Drew Clawson. The makeup was super neutral with a defined brow. Then a touch of gold for his “Midas” look.
Brown-smoky
This soft, brown, smoked-out eye was created for designer Krystell Barraza. The lip was a matte brown.
